Issues of concern to residents

  • Our negotiations in 2019 with NHG appear to be bearing fruit. Secure tenants get rent cuts we negotiated with NHG in 2019. But watch out! NHG are about to attack assured tenants!
  • External cyclical works only every 7 to 15 years. Is this a breach of tenancies and contracts?
  • Massive pay increases for the Executive Team of NHG. And rent rises of 1% above the rate of inflation for assured tenants from April 2020.
  • NHG snooping on residents (3). It turns out that only NHG tenants face intrusive questioning.
  • The riddle of the disappearing paladins, Veolia, and NHG not paying bills (2). The real problem is that NHG never pay any penalty for their mistakes.

Service Charges

  • The riddle of the disappearing paladins, Veolia, and NHG not paying bills (1)
  • Update on where we are with unfair service charges
  • Send in your observations about the new repair service NHG are planning!
  • Qualifying Long term Agreements (QLTA) – the dangers!
  • NHG refunds £85,000 in service charges as it threatens other residents with seizure of their homes and leaves elderly residents without services

Anthony Gerard

Good morning. I hope someone can help me.

My mother, Madeleine, wants to purchase her flat in W11 that she has occupied, as a tenant, since 1979.

Her landlord is Notting Hill Genesis Housing Association, prior to the merger they were Genesis Housing Association and prior to that Paddington Churches Housing Association.

I contacted NHGenesis recently on her behalf and was told:
"Thanks for your enquiry about buying your home. Unfortunately it isn’t eligible for Right to Acquire. In order to be eligible for RTA, we needed to acquire it after 1 April 1997 using a certain type of funding but as we acquired yours before then, we are not able to sell it.

Should the government ever introduce the new legislation on Voluntary Right to Buy, it is likely that your Mum may be able to buy her home – if she were able to secure a mortgage on the property - however we have no information about if or when this may be"

DOES ANYONE KNOW IF THIS IS TRUE?

A local solicitor wants to charge £250 per hour to advise. Before I even contemplate finding this cash, I thought I would see if someone on this group might be able to help.

Thanks.
